Stack management

Managing stacks from the Ordered Services page.
After a catalog is ordered, approved, and provisioned, a stack is created to track your order and all the resources related to that order. The
Ordered Services
page for Enterprise Marketplace allows users assigned the Budget Viewer role to monitor and manage active stacks and export that information. Only active stacks are listed on the
Ordered Services
page. An active stack is one that is has not been destroyed, had its resources deleted from the provider, or been canceled.
Access to the
Ordered Services
page is provided only to the following roles. The page and links to it are not visible to the other roles.

Navigating the Ordered Services page

Navigate to the
Ordered Services
page. To learn more about navigating to the different services from each tenant, refer to Landing page navigation or Kyndryl Bridge Landing page navigation.
The
Ordered Services
page shows a list of all active stacks that have been provisioned in the system. These stacks can be managed from this page. For more information, see Managing stacks. Stacks are listed in three categories:
All Stacks
,
All Patterns
, and
Transfers
. Click the tab for the category that you want.
  • All Stacks:
    All single stacks.
  • All Patterns:
    Any Patterns, which are bundles of related stacks. Click the Pattern to view the related stacks.
  • Transfers:
    All stacks that have been transferred from another deployment of the system.
The following information is displayed for each stack on the
All Stacks
tab. Not all of the columns are visible at the same time. Click the arrows in the
Viewing Columns
tool bar to scroll among them.
  • Stack Name:
    Name of the stack.
  • Provider:
    Service provider name, such as AWS EC2, Azure Managed Disk, or IBM Cloud Registry Service.
  • Catalog Name:
    Name of the catalog that the stack was ordered from.
  • Current Version:
    Catalog version number used to create the stack in Enterprise Marketplace.
  • Latest Version:
    The most recently created version of the catalog.
  • Provider Account:
    Name of the individual provider account used for a stack.
  • Provisioned Date:
    Date the stack was submitted for provisioning.
  • Status:
    A stack can be in one of the following states:
    • Active:
      Stack has been provisioned.
    • Deleted:
      Stack has been deleted, but details still remain.
    • Delete in progress:
      The system is in the process of deleting the stack.
    • Edit in progress:
      The stack is currently not accessible because another user is modifying it.
  • SI source:
    Application in which the stack was created.
  • Team:
    The team to which the user who created the stack belongs.
  • Ordered By:
    User name of the person who created the stack.
  • Estimated Cost:
    Estimated cost is based on the catalog price in Enterprise Marketplace. Actual costs might differ based on usage,
  • Currency:
    Currency type used for cost in the stack.
You can view the individual components in a stack by clicking the
Down Arrow
icon next to that stack. If the stack does not have individual components, you will see an error message.
You can search for specific stacks by entering terms into the
Search
field.
You can navigate the fields and change the number of
Items per page
using the toolbar at the bottom of the list.
All Services tab
The default is the
All Services
tab that displays a list of all active stacks. You can change the filters by clicking the
Filter
icon on the left to display the
Filters
toolbar.
Select any combination of the following filters and then click
Apply Filters
. stacks that meet any of the criteria are displayed.
  • Status
  • Provisioned Date: Enter a
    Start Date
    and
    End Date
    to define the range.
  • Provider
  • Asset Attribute
  • Catalog
  • Organization
  • Team
  • Custom context
  • SI Source
You can delete individual filters by clicking the
x
icon on them on the toolbar, or you can clear all of them in the
Filters
window by clicking
Clear all
.
Transfers tab
The
Transfers
tab lists all transfers. The tab is further divided into the
Pending Transfers
and
Completed Transfers
tabs. The stacks can be managed from this tab. For more information, see Managing stacks.

Viewing stack details

To view the details of an stack, click the
Actions
icon for the stack that you would like to view and select
View Details
.
The
View Stack
window for the stack is displayed. It includes the following tabs:
  • Service Details:
    The parameters of the stack.
  • Bill of Materials:
    The overall cost of the stack. Click
    More
    to view a detailed invoice.
  • Order History:
    Provides a recording of all steps in the ordering and provisioning process.
  • Service Logs:
    Provides any service logs generated for troubleshooting purposes.

Managing stacks

To manage a stack, click the
Actions
icon for the stack that you would like to view and select any of the following options:

Editing stack

To edit a stack, click the
Actions
icon for the stack that you would like to edit and select
Edit Service
.
Editing the catalog will open the ordering interface for that catalog. However, only fields that are set to be changeable after provisioning will be allowed to be changed. If no fields can be changed, the system will inform you that the stack cannot be edited.

Editing the custom context

Custom contexts in MCMP can be used for whatever reason that the designer of your system wants. For example, the custom context might be the project that the stack is associated with. Therefore, what appears on the
Edit Custom Context
window will vary. However, the process to change it remains the same:
  1. Click the
    Actions
    icon for the stack that you would like to edit the context for and select
    Edit Custom Context
    .
  2. Select the custom context or contexts from the radio button list.
  3. If desired, you can also change the owner in this window. To do so, start typing the name of the new owner into the
    Owner
    field. When the owner you want to assign the stack to appears, click to select it.
    If the new owner has been added recently, they might not appear in the list. In that case, click
    Reload Users
    to force the list to update.
  4. Click
    Save
    .

Transferring control of a stack to another team

Control of a stack can be changed to a different team. To do so, complete these steps:
  1. Click the
    Actions
    icon for the stack that you would like to transfer and select
    Transfer Service
    .
  2. In the
    Transfer stack
    window, select the new team from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click
    Transfer
    .
You can also transfer multiple stacks by selecting them and then clicking
Transfer
on the toolbar.

Changing the owner of a stack

The owner of a stack is normally the person who originally ordered the stack, and has privileged access to that stack. To change the owner of a stack, complete these steps:
  1. Click the
    Actions
    icon for the stack that you would like to change the owner of and select
    Change Owner
    .
  2. If desired, you can also change the owner in this window. To do so, start typing the name of the new owner into the
    Owner
    field. When the owner you want to assign the stack to appears, click to select them.
    If the new owner has been added recently, they might not appear in the list. In that case, click
    Reload Users
    to force the list to update.
  3. Click
    Change Owner
    .
You can also change the ownership of multiple stacks by selecting them and then clicking
Change Owner
on the toolbar that is displayed.

Listing available versions

Some stacks are available in multiple versions. To list the available versions of a stack, click the
Actions
icon for the stack and select
Available Versions
.

Deleting stacks

To delete a stack, complete these steps. A deleted stack cannot be reclaimed, and all of the services that were provisioned will no longer be available.
  1. Click the
    Actions
    icon for the stack and select
    Delete Service
    .
  2. Select
    I understand the results of deleting a service
    .
  3. Click
    OK
    .

Duplicating stacks

Duplicating a stack creates an exact copy of the stack, in effect ordering all of the same services with the same specifications again. You can either place a new order, in which case the new order will be sent through the approval process, or you can generate a quote that will provide a detailed breakdown of all expenses associated with that catalog.
To duplicate a stack, click the
Actions
icon for the stack and select
Duplicate Service
. You then have these options:
  • Place an Order:
    Duplicates the stack as a new order. You will go through the normal ordering process for the catalog with the fields filled in as per the duplicated stack. For more information, see Catalog ordering.
  • Generate a Quote:
    Provides a detailed cost estimate for a duplicate of the stack. For more information, see Quotes for catalogs.

Importing stacks

stacks can be exported from other systems, such as a test environment, and imported into your Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications system. These stacks are imported in the JSON or .zip formats and can be up to 500 MB. To import a stack, complete these steps:
  1. Click
    Import
    in the upper right.
  2. Click
    Upload file
    .
  3. Select the file that you want to import and click
    Open
    .
  4. Click
    Import
    .
