Context types

Learn about context type, which is a Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications construct used to enable users to perform specific actions.
Context has two parts to it:
  • Context type
    represents a business entity such as a project, an environment, or a cost center. Context type may be associated with one or multiple context values. Managing context types is limited to System Admins and User Admins.
  • Context value
    represents the different values for the context type. Each context value is associated with one and only one context type.
To access the Context Type page, follow these steps:
  1. From the Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications dashboard, click the Main menu on the left side, and select
    Admin
    , and click
    Context Type
    ; you will be redirected to the Context Type page.
The Context Type page enables authorized users to add, configure, associate, and delete context types and values through the following topics:
  • Set up a context type
  • Edit a context type
  • Add a context value
  • Edit a context value
  • Delete a context value
  • Delete a context type

Set up a context type

  1. Click
    Context Type +
    .
  2. On the
    Create Context Type
    page, enter the following basic information:
    a. ID
    b. Name
    c. Dependency. You can select
    Independent
    or
    Dependent
    .
    d. Select or deselect the
    Push to the provider
    checkbox. This value allows a service to be tagged with this context type and context value.
    Status must be set to Active to onboard the new Context Type.
  3. Click
    Create
    . A message displays the operation status of Success or Failure. The new context type displays in the list.

Edit a context type

  1. Click the
    overflow menu
    at the end of the row you want to edit and select
    Edit
    to alter the context type.
  2. On the
    Edit Context Type
    page, make any desired changes.
  3. Click
    Update
    . The success or failure message will notify you if your changes were saved.

Add a context value

  1. Click the
    overflow menu
    at the end of the row you want to edit and select
    Add context value
    .
  2. On the
    Create Context Value
    page, enter following basic information:
    a. Context Value ID
    b. Context Value Name
    You can also select the status of the Context Value (
    Active
    or
    Inactive
    ).
  3. Click
    Create
    . A message displays the operation status of Success or Failure. The new context value is associated with the context type.

Edit a context value

  1. Click the down arrow to the left of the name of the context type you want to alter. The list of associated context values displays.
  2. Click
    overflow menu
    at end of the row of the context value you want to change.
  3. Select
    Edit
    .
  4. Make any desired changes
  5. Click
    Update
    . A message displays the operation status of Success or Failure.

Delete a context value

  1. Click the down arrow to the left of the name of the context type you want to alter. The list of associated context values displays.
  2. Click
    overflow menu
    at end of the row of the context value you want to remove.
  3. Select
    Delete
    . A message displays the operation status of Success or Failure.

Delete a context type

  1. Click the
    overflow menu
    at the end of the row you want to remove.
  2. Select
    Delete
    The context type is deleted. A message displays the operation status of Success or Failure.
Deleting a context type results in also deleting any associated context values.
