The self-service digital experience initiative within Kyndryl Modern Operations simplifies the implementation process, enabling platform administrators to efficiently onboard the initial application installations and complete implementations with minimal assistance
Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications also provides a suite of applications designed to foster collaboration among individual teams, allowing them to maintain on their unique missions, while contributing to the entire organization.
Platform administrators, including the CIO, IT Finance Manager, development teams, Reliability Engineers, and Operations Managers, each have a consolidated view of their respective domains while seamlessly functioning as a part of your broader IT estate
Using a centralized approach, the platform enables administrators to not only manage user access but also user actions, tailoring individual experiences to meet the unique requirements and needs of different users.
Access to Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications is available through two distinct paths. Existing customers can continue using the legacy Modern Operations tenant, while new customers or those seeking to leverage Kyndryl’s strategic technology platform to accelerate digital transformation can explore Kyndryl Bridge.

Administrator functions and capabilities

The administrator capabilities within the Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications tenant encompass a wide array of services and functionalities, described as follows:
Portal management: Administrators can configure various functions of the Kyndryl Modern Operations tenant and navigation pages. This includes managing notification preferences and APIs through the Developer’s console, configuring portal and system settings, adding a privacy policy link, obtaining temporary access with a bearer token, and accessing information on globalization and localization.
User onboarding: Administrators can assign and manage permissions to resources, using either the legacy User Access Management, or the new Identity and Access Management (IAM) approach. This includes managing legacy user access, teams, organizations, context, context types, Identity Providers (IdPs), system users, and API access. In addition, administrators can manage IAM settings, send user invitations, control access groups, implement access policies, define roles, configure IdPs and service IDs, IdPs, manage access tags and API access.
Provider integrations: Administrators can establish connections with various cloud and DevSecOps tools and technologies, enhancing integration with Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications. This can be achieved through either the legacy User Access Management or the new Identity and Access Management (IAM) approach. With the legacy capability, administrators can manage cloud providers, master accounts, and assets accounts. In addition, with IAM, administrators can manage both existing and extended cloud providers and tools.
Common Actions Services: Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications offer a set of solutions, services, and capabilities designed to customize your IT infrastructure based on your organization’s unique requirements. Common Services functions include creating service offerings for your Enterprise Marketplace and Cost & Asset Management (CAM) catalog items. Additionally, it involves defining and organizing your policies using the Tag schema service. As part of Common Services integrations include, you can enable Sakhi, a knowledge-based trained widget for addressing Security and Compliance questions. Then, you can also enable ChatOps, which facilitates seamless communication among team members, promoting proactive decision-making through platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Microsoft Azure. In addition, you can also enable Chatbot, an incident tracker integrated with various IT Service Management (ITSM) tools.
Shared Services: Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications provide a comprehensive set of features used by various applications, which enable you to configure the system to leverage the Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications capabilities. Among Shared Services, you have functions such as budget and report management, pricing policies creation, currency conversions, set-up, and other essential services.
Audit log management: Administrators can search, filter, stream, download, and archive audit logs, ensuring comprehensive evidence of the sequence of activities impacting operations or procedures.
APIs management: Administrators can access a diverse range of APIs within Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications, that enable you to design, deploy, monitor, and maintain applications in a systematic and efficient manner. This ensures that all activities are easily accessible, reliable, and secure for both developers and consumers.

Administrator roles

Applications roles are assigned to users to grant access to specific role-based functions. These roles are dependable on whether you are using the legacy User Access Management approach, or the new Identity and Access Management (IAM) approach.
The following roles are currently available in the system when using the legacy User Access Management service. For more information, see Legacy roles.
  • Audit Admin
    : The Audit Admin role allows you to manage audit archival files. You do not have permission to view or download audit logs.
  • Audit Viewer
    : The Audit Viewer role allows you to only view and download audit logs. You do not have permission to perform other audit-related activities, such as archiving audits.
  • Budget Administrator
    : The Budget Administrator role enables you to manage budgets and budgetary units within Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications.
  • Provider Account Admin
    : The Provider Account Admin role has the authority to manage Provider Accounts and Credentials.
  • System Admin:
    The System Admin role is automatically assigned to the first user added to the system.
  • Team Setup Admin:
    The Team Setup Admin role allows you manage the legacy User Management and Account Management services. You can also manage Teams you belong to and manage all Organizations.
  • User Admin:
    The User Admin role allows you to manage Users, Teams, Organizations, and other related entities within the system.
The following roles are currently available in the system when using the new Identity and Access Management (IAM) service. For more information, see Administration platform roles.
  • Administrator
    : The Administrator role has full administrative access to IAM. This is the only role that can invite, edit and delete users from the Platform. It is the role given to the first user of the platform.
  • Editor
    : The Editor role has limited administrative access to IAM.
  • Viewer
    : The Viewer role can view public IAM information and take action on their user IdP preferences.
  • Operator
    : The Operator role has limited administrative access to IAM, as well as performing platform actions required to configure and manage services.
