Tag policy compliance dashboard

Determine the level of compliance of a defined set of resources on a centralized view by using Tag Policy Compliance.
On the dashboard you have access to the information of which resources do not comply with the policies established based on a set of tag compliance reasons, so you can remediate and correct them. For more information on Tag Remediation, go to Tag Remediation page.
The compliance reasons that you can find for your resources are:
  • Resources meet all tag policies.
  • Resource meets some tag policies.
  • Resource does not meet any tag Policy.
  • Resource does not contain tags.
  • Resource that has tags that are not in the set of tag policies.

Tag compliance dashboard components

To navigate the Tag Policy Compliance Dashboard, it is important to understand the features, and widgets that contribute to understanding the data quickly and clearly. When the cost dashboard page opens you find distinctive features that provide information regarding your costs. At the beginning of the dashboard, you find:
  • The type of corporate currency: The Corporate Currency is the single currency that is used to display all currency values in Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications. To learn more about corporate currency, go to: Defining the corporate currency.
  • View ingestion status: You can view the ingestion status related to specific provider cost data. When clicking this option, you can view a list of providers and ingestion status, you can click View All to navigate to the job page to see full details on job status.  To learn more about jobs, go to: managing jobs.

Open the
Tag Management
drop-down menu, to get a view of the tag management features, and then, click
Tag Policy Compliance
.
The Tag Policy Compliance dashboard offers different sections where you can analyze data, these sections are:

Define dashboard view

The Dashboard View option allows you to arrange your desired dashboard view. In this section, you can filter and select the data set categories you wish to be shown.
To select the
data set view
, click the Data Icon, located at the top of the tag compliance graph and next to the filtering icon. This icon lets you select the data sets to be displayed on the graph and table.
  • Click
    Dynamic Tags
    to search a set of dynamic tags and define the visibility and access control policies for teams and their users.
  • Click
    Dynamic Resource Group
    to choose a dynamic resource group from the list after selecting your desired view, click
    Apply
    to save the changes.
Then, you can filter the data by the following filtering criteria:
  • Provider
    : One or more providers can be selected to show their data.
  • Asset account
    : To view data of your assets.
  • Asset type
    : The type depends on the provider selected and you can filter by the different asset types in the cloud.
  • Provider Tag
    : Users can search and select tags associated to the provider, this search supports to look for two tags at the same time or look for different ones, this can be done by using the ‘OR’ and ‘AND’ option.
  • Tag compliance reason
    : Users can select the reason for the policy compliance between:
    • Asset has no tags
      Asset has tags that have no tag policies
    • Asset meets all policies
    • Asset meets some policies
    • Asset meets no-tag policies
  • Tag schema definition
    : Represents how you want to manage tagging across your system
Under
Tag compliance reason
, you can choose between the following reasons for the graph to identify each asset:
  • Asset has no tags
  • Asset has tags that have no tag policies
  • Asset meets all policies
  • Asset meets no-tag policies
  • Asset meets some policies
Under
Tag schema definition
, you have to select the desired tag schema and the tag definition for the application to show which of them are compliant or not.
You can add two tag schemas by adding them through the
Add filter
button next to the first tag definition, or remove it by clicking
Remove filter
. Click
Apply
to save your view.

When you choose a specific dashboard view, the application responds by showing a view of the graph and the list.
It also updates the
Summary Panel
, which shows the percentage of Tag Compliance and Non-Tag Compliant Assets.

Tag Compliance graph

Based on the dashboard view and filtering schema selected, the tag compliance graph, located under the dashboard view bar, shows detailed information on the behavior of the assets selected with your tag schema criteria.
The graph shows the assets' month-over-month data, and at the bottom, there is a legend of the tag compliance reason.
Click the graph icon on the right side of the graph to select the view by columns or lines.

Add to graph option

  1. Select
    Add to Graph
    option located at the top right side of the graph, you can select max. 5 options from one segment at a time.
  2. Click the drop-down menu and select the cost data, or search for it using the search bar. Check the data you desire to see and click apply.
  3. Lines in different colors indicate each asset data selected, and a dashed line indicates the projected cost, which is a future cost based on historical trends.
The Add to Graph option uses Cost by Segment data to add segments to the trend graph. The information shown on the graph is based on the segments selected in the Add to Graph section.

Configuring and saving your view

After selecting the dashboard view and filtering criteria, you can save your view to use it in the future.
  1. Confirm that the graph shows the desired criteria and then, click
    Save View
    .
  2. A new window will open. Confirm the dashboard view and add a name to the
    Saved view name
    field.
  3. If you wish to receive a scheduled email for the report, click on the checkbox under the 'Select this option to view scheduling details' text.
  4. Click
    Save
    to save your view.
    • Click
      Delete View
      to delete the view previously created.
    • Click
      Clear View
      to show the original view of data.
    • Click
      Edit Schedule
      to change the email schedule of your view and click
      Save
      to save changes.
    • Click
      Download
      to download the report.
      1. Select which data you wish to download between all items and only mini-chart data by clicking the check box next to each option.
        You can also select if you wish to export all columns or only selected columns from the invoice line items and details and the file details and format under the
        Generate the file
        section.
      2. Click
        Download
        to export the data.

Segment Chart

The segment chart on the Tag Policy Compliance dashboard allows you to configure and view your data on the different mini charts available.
To configure the line items, click the
configuration wheel
next to the Segment Chart title.
  1. On the pane that opens, select the provider tags from the drop-down menu under the title
    Add Provider Tags
    .
  2. Select dynamic tags from the drop-down menu under the title
    Add Dynamic Tags
    .
  3. Choose between applying the configuration only to Cost by Segment or to both Costs by Segment and Line Items.
  4. Click
    Save
    to apply the changes.
By default, the application shows three mini charts, but you can add as many as needed by clicking
Add Chart
.
Each mini chart has a drop-down menu where you can choose between comparison options of data, including:
  • Count / Tag Compliance reason
  • Non-Tag Compliance Count / Provider
  • Non-Tag Compliance Count / Billing account
  • Non-Tag Compliance count / Asset type
Any other line item configuration done through the configuration wheel also appears on the mini-chart drop-down menu.

Tag Compliance table

The Tag compliance table shows all the assets and their respective compliance and non compliance reasons. The table shows the following data:
  • Asset ID
  • Service provider
  • Billing Account name
  • Asset Account Name
  • Asset type
  • Tag schema-Tag Compliance reasons
  • Non Compliance Reasons
  • Tags
You can search for a specific asset by clicking the
search icon
on the right side of the table and then type the name or any of the data details on the table to search for a specific asset.
Select your desired view of the table by clicking the
column icon
and then, the checkbox next to each of the column names. By default, all the names are marked. You can also drag and drop any of the items to change how they are organized on the table. Click
Save
to save the view.

Viewing asset details

To view one specific asset detail, click on the line where it is located. A new window opens with two tabs:
Properties
and
Tag Compliance
.
  • On
    properties
    , you can view the details of that specific asset, similar to the ones that appear on the main table.
  • On
    Tag Compliance
    , you can view the details related to the tags, such as tag schema, tag definition, tag compliance reasons, and noncompliance reasons.

Generate data file report

You can download the data available on your Insights page in CSV, XLSX, or JSON format. This report is based on the configuration and filters applied to the dashboard and tables.
Follow the steps to create your data report:
  1. At the beginning of the page, click the
    Download
    option available.
  2. A new window displays to generate the file report. You can select the invoice line item and details report to be generated with:
    • Selected columns: The ones you selected when configuring your view.
    • All columns: Include all the columns available on the table.
  3. Once you select the data you want to download, generate the file by filling out the following:
    • Kind
      : Insights by default.
    • File Name Prefix:
      Enter the name that you want to give to the file.
    • UTC Time
      : By default, the time and date that you generate the report are added.
    • Sequence Number/Suffix
      : By default, it is 40 but you can enter your own digits.
    • Format
      : Select between XLSX, CSV, or JSON.
    • Your File Name
      : This reflects the complete file name based on the criteria previously selected.
  4. Once all the options have been selected, click
    Download.
    Generating the file can take a few minutes. Once the file is generated, you will receive a notification in your notification center.
