The Reserved Capacities dashboard provides actionable recommendations for assets to reduce underutilization and expenditures.
The dashboard gives you optimization insights that help them take actions to minimize costs and risks and give step-by-step actions that result in efficient consumption of reserved resources.
: You can view the ingestion status related to specific provider cost data. When clicking this option, you can view a list of providers and ingestion status, you can click View All to navigate to the job page to see full details on job status. To learn more about jobs, go to: managing jobs.
Billing account
: Where you can add the billing account identifier.
IBM Reserved summary graph
On the IBM Cloud Reserved Capacity dashboard, the
Summary
tab provides a month over month details that you can analyze on the reserved capacity analysis by instance type graph. The summary section provides the following details:
The number of reserved capacities.
The percentage of reserved capacity utilization.
The percentage of capacity coverage.
On-demand instances.
Reserved capacity analysis by instance type
The information is also shown on the dashboard, on the Reserved Capacity instance line item, under the Asset Type
Reserved Capacity
. The instance count for the reserved capacity groups matches with the IBM Cloud reserved capacity instance line items displayed on the dashboard.
On the graph, you can compare the reserved capacity count vs the instances type of the Reserved Capacity groups and its reserved capacity unused. This data also provides recommendations for the unused capacities.
Recommendations
The summary panel in the recommendation gives a snapshot of the benefit derived from recommendations in terms of cost savings, utilization, and coverage. On the RC dashboard, the recommendations provided are:
Retire or Renew:
Recommendations include the reservations that can be retired or renewed based on the age and utilization. The benefit is reduction in monthly cost.
Dynamic Resource Groups (DRG) defined for the user must be at provider or billing account level for the user to view the corresponding details in the dashboard.
Reserved capacity vs on-demand instances
This graph provides the reserved capacity unused, reserved capacity used, and on-demand instances available for IBM. On the graph you can compare the reserved capacity count vs the group and values and you can view more details on the Reserved capacity details table to make informed decisions and make changes to your items in IBM.
Reserved capacity and virtual server details table
Both tables provide detailed information about the assets related to the IBM Reserved Instances, this table contains the following columns:
Asset ID
Asset Name
Asset Account Name
Billing Account Name
Total Reserved Capacity
Reserved Capacity use
Operational state
Asset Type
Charge Type
Define your table view
You can select the view of the table according to your needs by clicking the
Column
icon, on the right side of the table.
A small window opens where you can select the columns to be displayed, you can also rearrange the order of the columns by dragging up or down the name of the column from the list.
Click
Select All
to include all the columns or use the check box to select the ones that you want to include.
Once you select the criteria, you can click
Reset
or
Save
at the bottom of the pop-up window, and the table automatically updates.
At the end of the table, you can select the number of items that you want the table to displayed by clicking the drop-down chevron icon, you can select to have 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 100 items per page.
You can also navigate to the next or previous pages if the total items per page do not show the total items in one page, by clicking the Left or Right arrows next to the items per page option.
To view details about an asset, click anywhere on the row of the asset that you want to view, a new window opens with all the details of the asset.
Generate data file report
You can download the data available in your dashboard page in a CSV, XLSX, or JSON format. This report is based on the configuration and filters applied on the dashboard and tables.
Follow steps to create your data report:
At the beginning of the page, click the
Download
option available.
A new window displays to generate the file report. You can select the invoice line item and details report to be generated with:
Selected columns: The ones you selected when configuring your view.
All columns: Include all the columns available on the table.
Once you select the data you want to download, generate the file by filling out the following:
Kind
: Insights by default.
File Name Prefix:
Enter the name that you want to give to the file.
UTC Time
: By default, the time and date that you generate the report is added.
Sequence Number/Suffix
: By default, it is 40 but you can enter your own digits.
Format
: Select between XLSX, CSV, or JSON.
Your File Name
: This reflects the complete file name based on the criteria previously selected.
Once all the options have been selected, click
Download.
Generating the file can take a few minutes, once the file is generated you receive a notification on your notification center.
