Defines different concepts related to Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications.
The following terms are used throughout this document:
Amazon Web Services (AWS):
AWS allows you to provision cloud-based services offered by Amazon such as Compute, Storage, Database, and Analytics.
CloudFormation:
CloudFormation is a service provided by AWS that helps you to provision AWS resources using a CloudFormation template.
CloudFormation template:
A template (structure) that you can use to provision services from AWS.
IBM Hybrid Cloud Management System (HCMS):
A services solution that allows you to automatically provision cloud services from a variety of available service providers.
Enterprise Marketplace:
Enterprise Marketplace can help you to plan, buy, and manage - or broker - IT resources across all cloud models from multiple suppliers while reducing compliance risk and overall IT costs.
Offer Code:
A unique code for AWS services such as AmazonEC2 for Amazon EC2 and AmazonS3 for Amazon S3.
Order:
A specific request for services that is placed through Enterprise Marketplace.
Product Family:
Attributes that contribute to the pricing for an offer code. For example, when calculating the price for AmazonEC2, "Compute Instance", "Storage", and "CPU Credits" are considered in the pricing of the AmazonEC2 offer code.
Provider Account:
A set of data that allows Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications to automatically access service providers to fulfill orders.
Service Provider:
A service organization that provides cloud services on demand. This organization can be external, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), or internal to your organization. These internal service providers are currently supported:
Private Cloud via VMWare vRealize Automation (vRA), versions 7.2, 7.3, and 7.4
Standard Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) integration technologies:
ServiceNow (SNOW), versions Kingston, Istanbul, and Jakarta
IBM Control Desk (ICD), versions 7.5 and 7.6
Catalog:
These are provisioned cloud services that are provided by a service provider and available on demand through Enterprise Marketplace.
Stack:
An ordered and provisioned instance of a catalog.
Enterprise Marketplace:
Enterprise Marketplace is the user interface that allows your customers to provision cloud services. They can make a service request that is automatically fulfilled by ICDS through defined automation.
User Interface (UI):
A graphical user interface (GUI) in Enterprise Marketplace that allows your users to provision services.
VMWare vRealize Automation (vRA):
Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications can interact with a vRA service (vRealize Automation Integration for MCMP) that provisions internal cloud resources through a vRA adapter.
