Tool Chain Management role management

Learn how to grant appropriate access to your users based on their role as they manage the tool chain for specific applications.
DevOps Intelligence employs a Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC) to enable appropriate access for individuals assigned those roles. Each role grants privileges to individuals, such as viewing and editing, for specific service allowing administrators to tailor access to team members according to organizational needs and policies. Subsequent sections describe the supported DevOps Intelligence roles and list the privileges granted for each role.

Tool Chain Management roles

User actions in Tool Chain Management are role-driven. Actions are granted as privileges associated with roles assigned to individual users. The following roles currently exist in the system:
  • Administrator role:
Create, delete, update, or view DevOps ToolChains defined in the ToolChain Management application.
  • Editor role:
Update and view the DevOps ToolChain and delete the list of tools defined in each phase.
  • Viewer role:
View the ToolChain listed in the service and refresh the tool status for all tools in ToolChain Management.
Each role endows privileges to the user assigned that role. The following permissions are required to view, edit, delete, and refresh ToolChain configurations from ToolChain Management:
  • Create ToolChain
  • View ToolChain
  • Edit ToolChain
  • Delete ToolChain
These privileges are provided to users by assigning users the aforementioned roles in accordance with the described privileges associated with each. For example, the Administrator role provides all four privileges (Create, View, Edit and Delete), whereas the Viewer role provides only Viewer privilege.
