Enterprise Marketplace deployment modes

Understand the two deployment modes and the permissions each one offers to the service tenant and customer tenant.
Enterprise Marketplace in the Service Provider edition offers a curated catalog and access control to service offerings for each of their customers. Using role based access controls, you can enforce the service provider tenant role in line with feature, persona, and access described later on this section.
Enterprise Marketplace in the service provider edition can run in two modes: regular and managed instances. An instance can be selected once the service provider tenant is created.
The instance selection cannot be changed after it has been set, and will be respected by all customer tenants linked to the service provider.
The service provider tenant in Enterprise Marketplace is enabled in two modes
  • Managed Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications Instance
  • Regular Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications Instance

Managed Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications Instance

The managed instance is set by default. This instance is managed by a service provider who later distributes it to their customer (customer tenant or managed service provider). The service provider tenant will serve as a control plane that will determine the end user functionality on customer tenants.
Content availability
: The out of the box (OOTB) content is available for the service provider edition but not for the customer tenant.

Managed instance capabilities per role

Overall, the service provider encompass (but not limited to) the privileges of a catalog administrator. The service provider can govern the service offering (SO) in the Enterprise Marketplace Catalog and assign such SO to the customer catalogs. For details on how to run the Catalog for this edition, see Catalog Management Dashboard.
On the contrary, the customer tenant can order services and track their progress accordingly as well as establish operational and approval policies. For a specific description of each role in Enterprise Marketplace, see Roles in Enterprise Marketplace.

Regular Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications Instance

This instance is not managed by a service provider. The service provider can just view the list of the customer tenants as no access to features is provisioned (including out of the box (OOTB) content).
Even though the service provider tenant may exist in a regular Kyndryl Modern Operations Applications edition, it cannot be used as no roles will be enabled. On the other hand, the customer tenant can access to all roles, features, and capabilities (including out of the box (OOTB) content).

Regular instance capabilities per role

Overall, the service provider has no privileges for any of the roles displayed on the tables. On the contrary, the customer tenant has all the privileges for all the roles detailed on the tables. For a specific description of each role in Enterprise Marketplace, see roles.
