Customer tenant connection management

Learn how to create connections and distribute them to one or more customer tenants.
Service Provider is currently a
Tech Preview
to provide you with access to new features so that Kyndryl hears your feedback and works on delivering features that meet your needs.
There is a major advantage in managing your customer tenant connections. One of those advantages is that you, as a service provider, can create a connection and distribute it to one or more of your customer tenants in a secure, easy and immediate manner. At the same time, you can unlink a distributed connection or delete an existing connection.

Connections page

To access the connections page, follow these steps:
  1. Click the
    Main menu
    on the left side of the page.
  2. Select the
    Admin
    menu.
  3. Click
    IAM
    .
  4. Select
    Connections
    from the left navigation bar. The connections page opens.
Once in the connections page, you can perform a series of actions including the following:
  • Adding a customer tenant connection
  • Viewing customer tenant connections
    • Using filters
  • Distributing a customer tenant connection
  • Removing a customer tenant connection
  • Deleting a customer tenant connection

Adding a customer tenant connection

To create a customer tenant connection, follow these steps:
  1. Access the
    Connections
    page.
  2. Click
    Add New
    .
  3. Select
    Add Customer Connection
    . The add customer connection page opens.
  4. Step 1
    . Complete the following information:
    1. Connection Name.
    2. Tag (Optional). Tags help you restrict access to resources.
    3. Description (Optional)
    4. Select the
      Technology Category
      from the dropdown.
    5. Select the
      Connection Type
      from the dropdown.
    6. Complete the configuration details. To learn more about configuration details, visit the Onboarding a cloud provider connection page.
    7. Click
      Test Connection
      to test whether the credentials are valid. If found an error, validate the highlighted values and retry connection.
    8. Click
      Add
      to complete the connection.
  5. Step 2
    . In the following window, you have the option to distribute this connection to your customers, or perform the distribution later.
    1. To distribute the connection, select one or more customers from the dropdown, and click
      Distribute
      .
The new connection's details page opens. Scroll down to review the list of customers whom you have distributed this connection.

Viewing customer tenant connections

To view all your customer tenant connections, simply access the connections page, which displays a list of all existing connections with their more relevant details.

Using filters

The
Connections
page offers a dropdown menu filter that you can select to visualize only the category of your interest, including the following:
  • Connection Status
    : You can filter by the status of the connection, according to these three options:
    • All
    • Distributed
      : Shows the connections that you have distributed to your customer tenants.
    • Not Distributed
      : Shows the connections that have not been distributed yet.
  • Customer
    : You can filter your connections by customer name, based on all the customer tenants that you have created.

Distributing a customer tenant connection

To distribute a connection to a customer tenant, follow these steps:
  1. Access the
    Connections
    page.
  2. Select the connection that you want to distribute. The details page opens.
  3. Click
    Distribute to Customer(s)
    , at the top of the page. A panel opens.
  4. Select one or more customers from the dropdown list. Click
    Distribute
    .
You will be redirected to the
Connection Details
page, where you can scroll down and confirm your connection.
Immediately after that you have distributed a connection, your customer can see the connection available in their connections list. A
lock icon
in the customer tenant connection will indicate that this is a distributed connection that the service provider has decided to share and, as such, it cannot be edited or deleted.

Removing a customer tenant connection

To remove a customer tenant connection from a specific customer, follow these steps:
  1. Access the
    Connections
    page.
  2. Click the name of the connection that you want to remove. The details page opens.
  3. Scroll down to the
    Customer Tenants
    section, where a list displays all customers associated to this connection.
  4. Click the
    overflow menu
    next to the customer that you want to unlink.
  5. Select
    Remove
    .
  6. Confirm the removal of this connection.
You can remove several customer connections at the same time. To do so, select the checkbox next to each of the customers and click
Remove
at the top of the customer tenants list.

Deleting a customer tenant connection

To delete a customer tenant, follow these steps:
  1. Access the
    Connections
    page.
  2. Click the
    overflow menu
    next to the connection that you want to delete.
  3. Select
    Delete
    .
  4. Confirm the deletion of this connection by typing the message in the box.
