Learn about this resource for a deep view into individual clusters, to acquire a keen understanding of performance and health.
The Container Cluster Management landing page provides an overview of the container clusters in your hybrid IT estate. It enables an at-a-glance view of cluster health by provider and region, and a general resource status for containers such as CPU and memory overutilized and underutilized.
It also provides a table cluster list table providing identifying information about each cluster. To view details about a cluster, click the cluster name. The service navigates to the details page for the selected cluster, which is described in the following section

Cluster details

The page displays the following information:
  • Cluster name.
  • Status, typically
    Active
    .
  • The connection type, typically identified by cloud provider.
  • A table containing the following information:
    • Environment ID
    • Location
    • Kubernetes Version
    • Created Date
    • Last Sync
    • All tags
    • Number of Pods
    • Number of Nodes
    • Number of Alerts
    • Duration (selectable)
  • A left navigation bar that presents multiple cluster detail selections as follows:
    • Cluster:
      Presents data about each Cluster. For more information see Cluster.
    • Actions:
      Enables taking an action by way of the Kyndryl action service and a history of Actions previously taken. For more information, see the following section,

    • Workloads:
      Tab presenting applications running in Kubernetes. For more information, see Workloads.
    • Network:
      Displays available Services and Ingress objects. For more information, see Network.
    • Configuration:
      Shows details about configmaps and secrets. For more information, see Configuration.
    • Storage:
      Shows the persistent volumes of the clusters. For more information, see Storage.
    • Access Control:
      Shows the Access Control details of the cluster. Cluster Access Control.
    • Policy:
      A cluster policy restricts the ability to configure clusters based on rules that limit the attributes. For more information, see Policy.
    • Custom Resources:
      Custom resources are Kubernetes API extensions that allow objects to be created, updated, and deleted.Custom Resources.

Container Cluster Management Actions

Container Cluster Management provides provides actionable insights of container clusters such as memory and CPU underutilization. If, for example, a particular cluster has a CPU utilization of .14%, your organization is committing significant cost for CPU cycles it is not using. This fact will be part of the data reported in the Actionable Insight quadrant of Container Cluster Management landing page.
Whsen the offending cluster is identified, the underutilization report is accompanied by a recommendation for adjusting CPU resources to an appropriate level. This recommendation, however, must be tested to ensure that the recommended level does not pose a health risk to the cluster in a production environment. The
Actions
section of the details page accomodates request for things such as reduced CPU resources.
The Actions section contains to links to two pages:
  • Create Resources:
    Provides details about the cluster, and a YAML configuration canvas that can receive a YAML script and reconffigure supproting resources for the custer.
  • Actions History:
    Displays the history of actions that have been taken in the past, which can be filtered by Action type (such as configuration change and state change) and status (such as In Progress and Failed).
Use the following procedure to commit an action to the Kyndryl Actions service:
  1. Prepare your YAML script containing the proposed configuration for the target resource.
  2. Click the cluster name of the identified cluster (action candidate). The service navigates to the details page for that cluster.
  3. Click
    Actions
    Create resources
    . The service navigates to the Create resources page for the current cluster.
  4. Copy your YAML script to the clipboard.
  5. Paste your YAML script onto the script canvas identified by the text "Insert YAML text here". The Create button illuminates, indicating it is active.
  6. Click
    Create
    to submit your request, or
    Cancel
    to abort the request. Clicking Create submits the configuration specification to the Kyndryl Actions service and the resource will be updated in accordance with your organization's policy.
