Roles
a role is a collection of permissions used as a building block for access policies administrators can create custom roles; bridge platform roles are system managed accessing the roles page from the main menu , go to administration → → roles total roles, bridge roles (platform), custom roles and planned service roles custom roles list at the top; platform roles at the bottom select the permissions count to view or search a role’s permissions viewing a list of roles by accessing the roles page, you are presented with four different cards providing relevant information for the account administrator the total roles card displays the total number of roles in your account the bridge roles card displays the total number of platform roles in your account the service roles card displays the total number of service roles in your account the custom roles card displays the total number of custom roles created by the administrator creating a custom role to create a custom role, complete the following steps from the roles page, select add role enter role name and custom id (both mandatory) enter an optional description select a service (non editable after save) whenever a service is registered to kyndryl platform central, it appears in this drop down select a role for the chosen service platform roles are listed first, then custom roles this selection populates the permissions list for that service and role combination review the populated permissions and select the specific permissions to include for this custom role click save editing a role you can edit only the custom roles that you have created if the role name is not clickable, you might not have the required permissions to edit that role to edit a custom role, follow these steps from the roles page, locate the role that you want to edit click the overflow menu and select view details click edit at the bottom of the page on the edit role page, you can modify the following details role name enter a unique name to identify the custom role description provide a brief description of the role and its intended purpose permissions select the permissions that determine the actions users assigned to this role can perform to modify role permissions, select or clear the checkbox next to the appropriate permission select update and confirm the changes deleting a role to delete a custom role, follow these steps click the overflow menu next to the role of your choice and select delete confirm the deletion by typing the name of the role in the search field prerequisites for editing roles to modify or remove roles, be aware of the following requirements editing preserves existing permissions custom id and service fields are not editable bridge platform roles cannot be modified only custom roles can be deleted the authorized roles to perform these changes are administrator create, edit, delete custom roles operator, contributor, viewer view roles learn more roles and permissions docid\ ics69b2oesewnrtsmbi3w
