# Bridge Access Management

## September 2026

**September 30**

**Enhancement******

**Improved navigation for self service Access Request Management capability: **All Kyndryl users can now easily reach Bridge Access Request Management from the Access Management section under the Administration menu and raise new access requests and view their existing access details.

**Retention period (TTL) for access requests in self service access request management: **Administrators can now benefit from automated retention management for self service access requests management, helping reduce data clutter, improve system performance and support audit compliance. Rejected and expired requests are automatically removed after 30 days, while revoked requests are retained for 90 days before deletion. Cancelled requests, including those cancelled by the requester, are retained for 30 days from the date they reach the expired state. Approved requests remain visible until their status changes, ensuring continued access to relevant request history when needed.

**September 9**

**Enhancement******

**Added notifications service for Bridge Access Management requests:** All Kyndryl users and Kyndryl approvers now receive automated notifications through the Kyndryl Bridge notification service for Bridge Access Management requests. Approvers are notified when new requests are submitted, while requestors receive updates when requests are approved, rejected or expired. This enhancement improves visibility into request status and helps streamline the account access approval process.

## August 2026

**August 26**

**Enhancement******

**Introduced resource pattern-based policies for Kyndryl Bridge Access Management**: Kyndryl Bridge developers can now define authorization policies using resource patterns in Bridge Access Management. This enhancement introduces a third policy type, alongside the existing **all resources** and **resource based on attribute **policies. Administrators can apply policies consistently across multiple matching resources while continuing to configure policies for individual resources when more granular access control is required. This enhancement reduces repetitive policy creation and simplifies authorization management across related resources. As a result, it improves governance, operational efficiency and scalability within Bridge Access Management.

**Enabled user access revocation for Bridge Access Management: **Kyndryl approvers, DPEs, account managers and account administrators can now revoke previously granted account access directly from the access request management workflow. In addition to approving and rejecting requests, approvers can remove unnecessary or outdated access assignments from a single location, helping maintain accurate permissions, support compliance requirements, and ensure access remains aligned with current business needs.

***

## July 2026

**July 22**

**Self-service Access Request Management is now available: **Kyndryl users can now request access to Kyndryl Bridge accounts and access groups directly from a single Bridge Access Management self-service experience. The capability enables approver personas to review, approve, or deny access requests through a structured workflow. It also provides users with a single pane of glass to view their associated Kyndryl Bridge accounts, permissions and access groups. This helps delivery and consult teams rely more on Kyndryl Bridge for both service operations and access requests. The experience reduces friction caused by ARMS dependency on Kyndryl VPN, especially for teams working through customer VPNs. By bringing access request management into Bridge Access Management users can avoid unnecessary VPN switching and context changes. This improves user experience, strengthens access governance and supports broader Kyndryl Bridge adoption.

**Service Access Management removed from the Kyndryl Bridge menu**: The Service Access Management menu option has been removed from the Kyndryl Bridge main menu. All user access management capabilities are now consolidated under Bridge Access Management. This provides a single location for authorized users to view and manage user access, as well as administer access groups and policies across Kyndryl Bridge and converged services. Existing user access and permissions remain unaffected.

## June 2026

**June 24**

**Enhancement******

**Bridge IAM and ARMS synchronization enhanced:** This enhancement introduces a bi‑directional synchronization between Bridge IAM and ARMS to support a feedback-driven access governance model aligned with SOC compliance requirements. Bridge IAM now supports all active Bridge accounts and tenant‑scoped access groups in ARMS. In parallel, ARMS continues as the system of record for access requests, approvals, and governance decisions, with all approved access grants and revocations automatically synchronized back to Bridge IAM. This separation of responsibilities ensures consistent governance execution, improves visibility and control over access boundaries, and prevents stale or non‑compliant access across the platform.

***

**June 17**

**New Okta FGA authorization system introduced: **A new Bridge authorization system based on Okta FGA is now introduced. As part of the IAM Convergence strategy, Okta FGA now serves as the central authorization engine, enabling consistent access control across Bridge and AIOps services. Okta FGA has been enabled for a defined set of Bridge accounts, while others continue to use the existing Bridge authorization system. This update centralizes access control and improves consistency and security across services.

**Tokenization and detokenization capabilities are now available for specific Elasticsearch indices:** Kyndryl Bridge introduces tokenization and detokenization to protect sensitive data by enforcing authorization, encrypting data, and securely storing it via Manetu. Sensitive fields are replaced with UUID/IRI tokens, enabling secure access, controlled detokenization for authorized users, and improved compliance through seamless tokenization of existing data. Manetu secures sensitive information by validating authorization, encrypting it, and safely storing it. It uses unique Internationalized Resource Identifiers (IRIs) for externally stored anonymized tokens. A policy engine regulates access by replacing sensitive fields in Elasticsearch with UUID/IRI tokens, while only Manetu retains the encrypted data. Authorized users can detokenize data as needed, and Logstash helps migrate and tokenize existing data to improve security and compliance.
