# Glossary

The following table describes common terms used in Bridge Automation Service (BAS) and during the Automation Service (AS) to BAS migration process.

| **Term** | **Definition** |
| ---------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Catalog** | A published automation that can be executed on demand, through a schedule, or by an event trigger. |
| **Category** | A logical grouping used to organize catalog items within the Orchestration Catalog. |
| **Connection** | A configured endpoint and credential set that enables workflows to communicate with external systems, platforms, or services. |
| **Domain-Specific Language (DSL)** | A JSON-based workflow definition that describes orchestration logic, workflow activities, execution flow, inputs, and outputs. |
| **Event** | A trigger that automatically initiates a workflow when a predefined condition or notification is received from an external system. |
| **Execution History** | A record of workflow executions that includes execution status, logs, timestamps, activity details, and outputs. |
| **Input Parameter** | Information provided by a user or calling system when executing a catalog item or workflow. |
| **Orchestration** | The coordinated execution of multiple automation activities to automate and manage business or operational processes. |
| **Migration Report** | A report generated during the migration process that summarizes migrated, skipped, failed, and partially migrated assets. |
| **Role** | A collection of permissions assigned to users that determines the actions they can perform within BAS. |
| **Schedule** | A time-based trigger that automatically executes a catalog item or workflow at predefined intervals. |
| **Tenant** | An isolated customer environment within BAS that contains its own users, roles, catalogs, workflows, schedules, event rules, and configurations. |
| **Workflow** | A sequence of connected activities executed by BAS to automate a process or operational task. |
| **Workflow Builder** | The visual authoring tool used to create and manage workflows without manually writing DSL code. |
